The Story

Since our beginnings in 1998, our passion for fly fishing has motivated us to continue learning and growing each day in one of the best destinations in Northern Patagonia—an environment without any fishing pressure with large brown trout and rainbows. The Aluminé River and other smaller rivers make our destination one of the best places to enjoy fly fishing and Argentine culture.

  • The best guides with more than 25 years of experience in the water
  • Rates start from $950 a day
  • Season runs from November to May

Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

Our Lodge is located in Aluminé, Neuquen, only an hour and fifteen minutes from the San Martin de los Andes airport (CPC – Chapelco) and it is right on the Aluminé riverbank.

The lodge was finished in 2021 and it has 5 large double rooms with spacious private bathrooms. All 5 bedrooms overlook the river and are separate from the main house. The main house or “zoom” has an open bar, dining room and cozy living room overlooking the Aluminé river. Upstairs in the main house is our Wall of Fame with our fly-tying bench. It is extremely rewarding to see the reactions by our repeat customers when they see their picture on the Wall of Fame with their personal best with Achala Outfitters.

We can host from one angler with a maximum capacity of 10 anglers. Anglers traveling with non-angling companions are welcome.

Although our lodge was finished in 2021, our fly fishing operation has been fishing the Aluminé river since 1998. We focus on 5 main sections of the river that have low pressure and private access to the water. We target large resident trout and techniques will vary by the section of the river and the time of the year you visit the lodge. December to March is the best time to visit the lodge if you enjoy dry flies.

We will also take you to pristine lakes in the area nestled in the Andes where you will have a fantastic experience fishing with streamers and dry flies targeting large rainbows and browns, and the occasional native “perca”.

We invite you to enjoy the experience in a unique lodge with a low pressured fishing environment accompanied by gourmet meals, premier Argentine beef, and Argentine wines.

Our additional Fly Fishing Programs that can be added on to your experience include:

  • Lower Aluminé River Overnight Nomad Camps (Mid-December to Mid-March)
  • Limay Medio River Overnight Nomad Camps (Mid-December to Mid-March)
  • Migrating Trout – Limay (End of Season – April & May)
  • Migrating Trout – Aluminé (End of Season – April & May)
  • Migrating Trout – Limay & Aluminé (End of Season – April & May)
  • Upper Paraná Trophy Golden Dorado – Corrientes (September to November)

We also offer:

  • Fly fishing school for beginners
  • Masseur Service
  • Whitewater rafting
  • Horseback riding
  • Golf
  • Diving
  • Mountain Biking
  • Bird-Watching
  • Aluminé river floats with Achala
  • Lake Day at Lago Pulmari Beach
  • Aluminé Shopping Tour

This area is surrounded by lakes and rivers, each with excellent quality fishing and different options to discover. The Aluminé River is the crown jewel, with wild trout and low fishing pressure that make it undoubtedly one of the best fishing environments in Northern Patagonia.

  • April/May: begins the migration of the great browns that rise from the lakes to spawn—a special time for those looking for the challenge of chasing these imposing trout
