Here's what our Athletes and Ambassadors have in store for 2025:
- Learn something new every day.
- Be less afraid of failing.
- Do something that scares me.
I definitely have a goal of taking some native women backpacking in Grand Canyon before the summer. I love to show native women a beautiful place and take them on a hike they will remember forever. Making a core memory for them. Especially the ones who have never been backpacking.
This has always been a goal of mine. I know ladies always tell me they want to go down. But just don’t think they can or have the proper gear. Hopefully I’ll be able to inspire native women to accomplish their goals and coming on an adventure.
In 2025, I hope to continue seeking balance in my work, life, health, and relationships. This is something that I realized I didn't have in 2024.
On the running side of things specifically, in 2025 I will be challenging myself with some new distances and new types of races so I am excited to embrace being a student of the sport again as I learn about how to train and race different disciplines. Putting myself out there and getting vulnerable is where the magic happens!
- Each new year, as long as my body and life allow, I hope/plan to make myself both stronger and smarter than I was the previous year.
- Transgrancanaria 126km (Feb 2025): show up healthy and ready for the best run across Gran Canaria that I've got in me.
- Build more community; host more local community events and grow more connections with the global running community.
My intentions for the New Year are to build my mentorship efforts in cycling through my riding and inclusion efforts. I hope to inspire newer cyclists to challenge themselves, to try hard things, and to ride in a way that feels genuine to them, regardless of their shape, size, or experience level.
- Catch some fish with a fly rod with my son (we're both learning).
- While my focus is on running, resurrect other aspects of who I am as an athlete. This mostly means getting back into some climbing and mountain biking.
- My focus as a runner is the 100k-100 mile distance, but I want to do some shorter races because I tend to avoid these because they're not as much of a strength for me.
- Take my son backpacking and camping as often as I can, hopefully once a month.
- Focus on the pure joy of skiing! Sometimes when you turn your passion into your job, this is actually something you have to focus on, as crazy as that sounds.
- Saying no! I need to practice not saying yes to everything so that I have space to say yes to the things I care about and want most.
- Ski more in my home mountains in Tahoe! There is so much I haven’t explored or skied in my own backyard so I really want to dig into that! Pray for a great winter in the Sierra Nevada!
- I intend to launch our Himalayan Women Trail Leaders Initiative in Nepal in partnership with the Nepali female trekking guides as a way to elevate the roles of women and create gender equity in the mountain tourism industry.
- 2025 will be my year to build new communities and friendships along my journey as a global mountain nomad and establish a home base for myself.
- 2025 will be my year to focus on rest and healing my body as I go through the perimenopause/menopause period.
- Since selling the Hot Tomato in 2021, I have had the time and creative space to step, slowly, back into the photography career that I set aside in 2012 when competing pressures from the restaurant needed to take priority.
My goals for 2025 center largely around pursuing creative pursuits, mostly photography but also some filmmaking, as a more structured and deliberate objective. I would like to shoot full time, and develop relationships with brands that I admire on an ethical level. As my background was in editorial photography, and that was a logical reentry point, it's been so satisfying to have the opportunity to tell visual stories again, and I look forward to continuing to pursue that outlet as well along with commercial work.
- I'm finally learning lighting and have loved having a different tool in the tool kit! It's allowed me to conceptualize images that I would be unable to create without the use of strobes. I am looking forward to being more proficient at this.
- Plan more Type 2 sufferfest adventure trips with friends!
- Continue down the path of intentionality around what life looks like with fully embracing middle age. I know this might sound silly, but the mid-way marker does really provide a different vantage point with which to examine how to (hopefully) step into the next half with grace and humility for the process. I've finally hit the age where life goals include self care, so bring on the stretching/dietary changes/exercise goals/mindfulness meditations and big, existential examination of what I want the next half of life to look like.
- Training a puppy.... :)
I am excited to ski every single day and push myself in all aspects and variations of skiing this upcoming season! I want to be the best skier in the world. I’m also excited about my YouTube series that is going really well and about pushing my limits and the sport of skiing.
I want to commit to slowing down. To me, this means really cherishing the time I have with my family and enjoying time in the mountains.
Being in residency I often find myself rushing from place to place, but in the new year I want to make sure that I stop and fully appreciate these precious moments.
